HOW IT WORKS

Care, with a plan.

Four steps to set up, eight careful stages before anything is released.

SETTING UP

How do I set up SealedLight?

You set it up in four steps: build your vault, assign nominees, verify them and choose how often to check in.

01

Build your vault

Add text messages, and with paid plans video, voice, documents and photos. Assign each item to the nominee who should receive it.

02

Assign nominees

Choose up to 5 nominees with Plus, including during the free trial, or unlimited nominees with Legacy. Set item-level permissions. Nominees are asked to consent.

03

Verification

Every nominee accepts from their own email and creates their own private key on their own device. For extra certainty, you can ask for an ID check: they upload an ID and take a live selfie, and our team reviews it.

04

Check-in

Choose weekly, monthly (the default) or quarterly. Sign in with a passkey or biometrics.

RELEASE

What happens if I miss a check-in?

Nothing is released straight away: a missed check-in starts a careful eight-stage process. Logging in or checking in cancels the process at any stage. Each step is written to an audit trail.

01

Missed check-in

You miss a check-in and receive a push notification.

02

More reminders

Further reminders go out by email and SMS.

03

Optional backup contact

If you set one, your backup contact is asked to reach you.

04

Grace period

A waiting period you choose: 30, 60 or 90 days.

05

Nominees notified

Your nominees are told that the release process has started.

06

Evidence

A reviewed death certificate and/or confirmation from multiple nominees, according to the rules you set.

07

Final notice

A last notice goes out on every channel we have for you.

08

Release

Only the items you assigned are released, only to the nominees you assigned them to.

GOOD TO KNOW

Can a release be undone?

Not after a nominee has opened the items.

Once items are released and opened by a nominee, they can’t be recalled. That is why the process has a grace period, an evidence review and a final notice first.

Keep what matters.
